WHO AM I?

I’m Nicky Anstice. I’m from Belfast, Northern Ireland. I have a Bachelors Degree in Advertising and a Masters in Communication Design.

I’ve worked for multiple digital agencies in London for over 12 years, writing everything from webpages and video scripts to campaigns and chatbots.

Through agency life I’ve written for some of the world’s biggest brands including: Nike, Google, Disney, Facebook, Sony, Royal Mail, Volkwagen, Estée Lauder and more.

WHAT’S my vibe?

For me writing is all about communication – getting a thought or an idea from my head into someone elses. It needs to be simple and easy.

I would rather break something down and spell it out than make the reader have to work too hard to understand it.

Writing is all about the reader – not the writer.

WHAT’S my BEEF?

I get frustrated when copywriting is underestimated. When people see copy as just words that fill a space. When it’s treated as an afterthought. When writing is seen as boring. Black and white.

Copywriting is so creative. So clever. So colourful. It starts with thinking, having ideas and defining key messages. It’s about playing with words and giving brands a voice. Copy and design are equally as important, and when they work together... that’s when the magic happens.

WHAT’S my MISSION?

I want to take the fear out of writing. Many people get overwhelmed at the thought of writing, especially if it’s for their beloved brand. The fear of getting it wrong, not making sense, or it not coming across the right way.

I want to give people the confidence to write their own copy. To create a space where people can learn the skills and techniques to craft their own effective copy. I’ll provide tips, advice, frameworks, guides and examples to help people write copy that’s not only well structured, but bursting with personality.

Once people understand the basics of effective copywriting and learn how to write in a tone that embodies their brand, that’s when copywriting becomes an absolute joy.
